Paving stones are an interesting method of upgrading a lawn or business' aesthetic
appearance with relatively little work in comparison to the end result. A well put
together path with concrete or paving stones can turn an ordinary looking entrance
or exit into a delightful and professional looking area that draws the eye while
allowing for the support and stability of stone and concrete.
There are many kinds of paving stones that can be used for any project. The old
world style cobble stones are always popular. There are also Holland, Brukstone,
and Strassen style paving stones and installation. Holland style installation involves
rectangular paving stones that fit together tightly giving the appearance of a brick
road. These can be installed in various patterns to make a unique appearance such
as the popular herringbone pattern or be used to spell out words or simple mosaic
images. Brukstone is similar to the Holland style except that the stones are designed
to appear irregular in shape so that the paved area will take on an archaic look.
Overall Brukstone is a type of paving stone that gives the area a more natural feel.
Strassen is a style and brand that specializes in modern designed "old world" style
construction. The paving stones in this category are designed to be weathered in
appearance so that they seem to be ancient and time-worn.
While the aesthetics of pavers are always welcome the real reason a business or
residential area would want to add in paving stones or concrete pavers is to solidify
a walkway, create a courtyard, or otherwise stabilize an area. Ground water can
pool up in some areas and turn normally sturdy dirt walkways into puddles and deep
mud. With a properly laid drive or similar area this situation can easily be fixed
so that no one who wishes to enter the business or residence will have to wade through
mud or other debris to get inside. Pavers, over poured concrete or black top are
the best solution for any project!
